WCSH Channel 6: Renowned Artist Barbara Prey Reflects on Space Shuttle Program

Port Clyde is a long way from Cape Canaveral. But they are both part of the world of artist Barbara Ernst Prey. Her watercolors, with their strong colors and striking images of the Maine coast and other scenes, have become known around the world. She lives on Long Island, New York, but says she has been spending part of her time painting in Port Clyde for thirty years. Prey has exhibited in prominent galleries in New York, Paris and many other cities, as well as in a number of U.S. embassies. In 2002, after designing a White House Christmas card, she got a call from NASA, to help document America’s space program. Prey calls it a great honor. Four works later, she still considers it an honor.
